Three accused persons namely Dauda Aruna a Mason, aged 20 years of Heigbema Section; Mohamed Konneh, a mason, aged 21years of 5 Sumaila Street; and Aruna Patrick, another mason, aged 22years of 5 Sumaila Street all of Kenema City have arraigned before Justice Francis Banks-Kamara of the High Court in Kenema on two Counts.

Count one charge is for conspiracy contrary to law and count two is for house-breaking and larceny contrary to Sec.26(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

the particulars of offence stated that the three accused persons on June 23, 2023 at the Kenema City, conspired with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit house breaking. The three accused on the same date and place, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Mohamed Foday and stole One Hundred and Fifty-Eight (158) inches Iron rod valued Twenty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Seventy New Leones (NLe 22,570.00), property of Mohamed Foday.

All the three accused asked for mercy and forgiveness. Having heard the plea mitigation and considering the age of the three accused persons, the Judge therefore convicted and sentenced the first accused to five years (5yrs.) on count one and thirteen years (13yrs.) on count two, totally eighteen years(18yrs.) imprisonment to run consecutively. the second accused was sentenced to five years (5yrs.) on count one and twelve years (12yrs.) on count two totally seventeen years (17yrs.) imprisonment to run consecutively and the third accused person was sentenced to five years (5yrs.) on count one and twelve years (12yrs.) on count two totally seventeen years (17yrs.) imprisonment to run consecutively.

The matter was prosecuted by Mathew. P. M. Lappia, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema District whilst the Accused Persons were represented by Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board for Kenema District.
