Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School, located in Bombali District, is appealing for urgent assistance to address deteriorating infrastructure and a severe shortage of furniture, which is hampering the learning environment for its pupils.
The school, which serves hundreds of children from surrounding communities, is currently facing significant challenges due to its aging facilities. Cracked walls, leaking roofs, and damaged classrooms are posing serious risks to the safety and well-being of students and staff alike. The shortage of desks and chairs has left many pupils sitting on the floor during lessons, further disrupting the educational process.
Speaking to local authorities, the school’s head teacher highlighted the pressing need for intervention. “Our students are eager to learn, but the conditions in which they are forced to study are unbearable,” she said. “We urgently need support to repair the school and provide enough furniture so that these children can focus on their education.”
Parents and community members have expressed their concern, calling on the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to step in and provide the necessary resources to restore the school to a safe and conducive learning environment.
The situation at Bai Sebora Kasangha Primary School is a stark reminder of the challenges facing many rural schools in Sierra Leone, where underfunding and neglect continue to threaten the future of young learners.
