Aunt Set Hands of Nephew Ablaze

By Josephine Sesay

A six-year-old boy at the Moeba community in east Freetown is currently recovering from severe burns said to have been inflicted on him by his aunt, highlighting a disturbing case of child abuse that has prompted outrage among residents.

The incident occurred on September 28th, 2024, when the child reportedly spilled a bottle of baby perfume belonging to someone else. This minor mishap triggered a violent reaction from the child’s aunt, resulting in severe physical harm.

According to report, the child and the aunt’s husband have since been taken to the PWD Police Station to report the incident, while the aunt responsible for the abuse has fled the area and remains at large. Community members are calling for urgent action to locate the perpetrator and ensure justice is served. The incident underscores a growing concern of child safety.

As the investigation unfolds, the Moeba community is rallying together, demanding an end to such violent act against children.

Authorities appeal to the public for any information regarding the whereabouts of the aunt and have emphasized the importance of reporting child abuse cases to prevent further tragedies.
