Two Children Reported Dead in Suspected

Josephine Sesay

Two children: two-year-old Abdul Akin Bangura and fourteen-year-old Olivia Conteh were found dead on 15th September, 2024, at their home on 10 Lardner Street, Off Fourah Bay Road, Freetown in what is suspected to be a case of food poisoning. Two other children from the same household, Sulaiman Bangura, age 5, and Ramatu Bangura, age 7, are said to be in critical condition and are receiving urgent treatment at Cottage Hospital. Their condition remains severe as medical staff work to stabilize them.

The incident reportedly occurred after the children’s mother prepared a meal of fried chicken and fish the night before. It is not yet clear whether this food was consumed before the tragic event. The bodies of Abdul and Olivia have been transported to Connaught Mortuary, where forensic examinations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigation is ongoing to know actual cause of death and who is liable.
