Hon. AKK speaking in Parliament

Chief Whip of the opposition, All People’s Congress (APC), Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara (AKK), has, during a plenary sitting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Parliament on Tower Hill in Freetown, taken a swipe at the Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC) for what he described as the Company’s inability to adequately supply water across the Freetown municipality.

The lawmaker lashed at GVWC, stating that the President’s Lodge is about three to four hundred meters away from the Guma dam at Regent but supplying adequate water to the Lodge has been a thorny issue. “If Guma Valley cannot supply the President’s Lodge and Parliament with adequate water, how can we depend on it to supply the Freetown municipality,” the fire brand politician queried.

Hon. AKK furthered that food security which is one of President Bio’s flagship agenda of the ‘Big Five Game Changers’ and the Feed Salone project would not be achieved if there is inadequate water supply in the city. “We cannot talk about food security without speaking of adequate water supply,” the lawmaker maintained.

He however commended the approved Chairman Board of Directors of the GVWC Ing. David Karim Fonnie for his experience and good track record that, according to the lawmaker, have seen him performed with distinction in all his previous appointments.
