World Bank Delegation Visits SALWACO

A delegation from the World Bank has held a fruitful engagement with a cross section of the Leadership of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) on water related issues. Key among the discussions was to understand institutional challenges and ways of addressing same.

Chairman of the event, Apostle Dr. Albert Harrison Harvey, Deputy Managing Director of SALWACO welcomed the team on behalf of the Board and Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. George Lamin Vandi. He said that the coming of the delegation to SALWACO is appreciated utmost.

Team Leader of the Delegation, Prof. Spiro Pillalis said that understanding instructional challenges is key in attempting to tackle same. He said that a thorough understanding of the issues is therefore very prudent.

The team seeks to look into the area of Urban planning, Flood risk assessment, Structure plan, Area plan, Action plan, Relevant data, Challenges and recommendations, Urbanized and administrative areas so as to better plan the cities, among other things.

The SALWACO team included, Director of Research, Planning and Policy, Saffa SK Bockarie, Stakeholders’ and Media Relations Manager, Mary Mansaray Ngegba, Human Resources Manager, Joe Ansu Foray, Operations Manager, Ing. Abu Kallon and Senior Communications Officer, Sheku Putka Kamara.

Both teams have pledged to further collaborate in the best interest of institutional productivity.

This is in line with the Resilient Urban Sierra Leone Project which is a World Bank funded initiative.
