In an effort to expand its marketing system and to get more customers in the country, Ecobank Sierra Leone on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, engaged the leadership and members of the Fullah business community at the Freetown City Council Hall.
In his opening statement, Wilson Williams, the Executive Director of Ecobank Sierra Leone, expressed gratitude to the Fullah community for honouring their invitation, saying the community is very important into the day-to-day operations of the financial institution as they have dominated the business sector in and around Freetown.
“The Fullahs contribute immensely to the economic status of Sierra Leone, and Ecobank wants to forge good relationship with you,” Williams pointed out while appreciating their work in the business sector. He said, when it comes to flour, butter and rice selling in the country, it is being dominated by the Fullah people.
According to the Executive Director, the motive of the engagement is that his bank wants to stay close and do business with the Fullah business community and to continue to engage in the development of Sierra Leone.
He however promised to do anything that the Fullahs may need from the bank.
In his response, Alhaji Mohamed Sajor Jalloh alias Med-Saj, the Fullah tribal head and head of council of Fullah tribal heads in Sierra Leone, appreciated the financial institution for the gesture provided them during the month of Ramadan, while encouraging everyone from his community to do business with the bank. He noted that the bank has respected his community so much so that they need to reciprocate same.
“If someone respects you, you must respect him,” Chief Med-Saj said, craving for the relationship and respect between the two parties to continue. He called on the bank to be transparent in their banking activities.
Haja Isatu Jalloh-Turay, the leader of the Fullah women under the Fullah tribal administration, expressed gratitude to her leaders from her community and the management of the bank for such familiarization gathering, saying she banks with Ecobank and has benefited greatly from the institution. “I have benefited from Ecobank because they gave me a brand-new car and I will continue to bank with them,” she said.
