The Office of the Directorate of Defence Public Relations and Information, Ministry of Defence has issued a press release about the retirement of 37 military officers from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces. Among those officers, six of them voluntarily discharged from the ranks of second lieutenant to Major while the 31 officers have been compulsorily discharged. The press release reads:
Voluntary discharge- six (6) officers from the ranks of second lieutenant to major; compulsory discharge on grounds of absent without leave (AWOL)- eight (8) officers from the ranks of second lieutenant colonel; compulsory discharge on grounds of subversion- eighteen (18) officers from the ranks of lieutenant to major; compulsory discharge on grounds of misconduct- five (5) officers from the ranks of lieutenant to colonel.
The release further states that this decision was made pursuant to section 169 (1) of the constitution of Sierra Leone Act No.6 of 199, including other instrument on administrations and discipline in sections 26 and 27 a and b of the Army Orders Act No.1 of 1965 of RSLAF.
