Eight Defendants, 1 Acquitted and Discharged and 7 Sentenced to 3,920 Years Imprisonment for Conspiracy and Robbery with Aggravation

At the Criminal Session of the High Court Holden in Bo Presided over by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Francis Banks-Kamara on August 4, 2026, the Court was informed by the Attorney General on behalf of the State that Alfred Bull, David Kanu alias Davida, Mohamed Sillah, Paul Kaikai, Joseph Sannoh, Sahr Komba, Ahmed Conteh, Abdulai Nyallay and Foday Sankoh Kamara are charged with Conspiracy and Robbery with Aggravation.

The eight (8) Defendants were arraigned before Justice Francis Banks-Kamara on eight (8) count charges ranging from Conspiracy Contrary to Law and Robbery with Aggravation Contrary to Section 23 subsection 1 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by the Abolition of Death Penalty Act 2022 Act No.12 of 2022.

The first Defendant, Alfred Bull was Acquitted and Discharged whilst the 2nd, 3rd, 4th,5th,6th and 7th Defendants were Cautioned and Discharged on count one, Conspiracy and Sentenced Eighty years(80yrs.) Imprisonment on count 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 each totally Five hundred and Sixty Years Imprisonment (560yrs.). The Seven Defendants were sentenced to a jail term of Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty (3,920) years imprisonment. The particulars of offence stated that the seven Convicts on August 16, 2025 in Bo District in the Southern Provence of Sierra Leone, conspired with unknown individuals to commit a felony to wit Robbery with Aggravation. On the afformentioned date and Venue, being Armed with sticks and cutlass robbed Abdul Wahab Bangura of one manfly machine head valued at NLe 400, one Tecno Android C.H. mobile phone valued at NLe 2,000 all to the total valued of NLe 2,400, properties of the said Abdul Wahab Bangura. The Seven Convicts also robbed Keifala Koroma properties valued at NLe 1,000 whilst in the custody of the said Abdul Wahab Bangura. They also robbed Abdulai Kemoh, Mabinty Fofanah with assorted items valued at NLe 8,475, Marie Tarawally Jalloh with fiscal cash and other items valued NLe 187,050, Salamatu Turay’s items valued NLe 1,650 and Saidu Conteh with Properties valued NLe 12,400 whilst in the custody of Abdul Wahab Bangura.

In plea mitigations, Francis Baimba Swaray Esq.of Legal Aid Board in Bo, pleaded with the Judge to temper Justice with mercy for minimal sentence. He said, all the Convicts are young with brighter future and that they are ready to reform.

In his Judgement, Justice Banks-Kamara told the court that the Convicts are enemies of the State not only enemies of the victims. “Why these young boys don’t do Agriculture but rather engaged themselves in terrorising people at night”_he asked adding that no Investors will come to a country with Armed Robbers. “Some says they are students though they were not caught in the examination hall” According to Justice Banks-Kamara, Sierra Leone needs more Investors to invest in the country. In conclusion, he said, “I am in Bo to ensure that the people of Bo and its environs sleep in peace”.

The matter was prosecuted by Augustine Sheku, Senior State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Bo associated with Yankuba Bah and Gerald Massaquoi.
