President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accelerating national development, strengthening democratic governance, and improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans through tangible results.

Speaking during the State Opening of the Fourth Session of the Sixth Parliament, President Bio said his administration will focus on increasing food production and expanding access to electricity and clean water before the next State Opening of Parliament.

“Before the next State Opening of Parliament, we will focus on increasing food production; expanding electricity and clean water services,” the President stated.

He emphasized that the government’s “Year of Action and Accelerated Delivery” will be measured not by promises but by completed projects and visible improvements in the lives of citizens.

“This Year of Action and Accelerated Delivery will therefore be judged by completed projects and tangible improvements in people’s lives,” President Bio said.

The President also reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening democracy and upholding constitutional governance. He noted that the government remains committed to implementing electoral reforms agreed upon under the Agreement for National Unity and the Tripartite process.

“My government remains committed to credible elections, constitutional governance and the peaceful transfer of political authority. We will continue to implement the electoral reforms arising from the Agreement for National Unity and Tripartite,” he said.

Addressing climate resilience and environmental protection, President Bio highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and safeguard the country’s natural resources. He said the government is investing in early-warning systems, ecosystem restoration, improved waste and drainage management, and the protection of forests, mangroves, wetlands, watersheds, and coastlines.

“We are strengthening disaster preparedness, early-warning systems, ecosystem restoration, waste and drainage management, and the protection of forests, mangroves, wetlands, watersheds and coastlines,” the President stated.

President Bio’s address outlined the government’s priorities for the coming year, focusing on food security, infrastructure development, democratic reforms, and environmental sustainability as key pillars of Sierra Leone’s national development agenda.
