Transit College is a Sierra Leonean tertiary learning institution founded under the vision of the Transit Mission to serve as a transformative force in education, research, innovation, sports, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. The college is affiliated with Njala University and other institutions within and out of Sierra Leone. From its inception, the institution has carried a mandate to inspire students to create, discover, and apply knowledge that drives sustainable development in Sierra Leone, Africa, and the wider world.
The college is accredited by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and the National Council for Technical and Vocational Awards (NCTVA), affirming its credibility as a provider of high‑quality education and vocational training. Its philosophy is rooted in the belief that education prepares students for life, not merely for earning a living. Transit College emphasizes holistic development through intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual growth; while fostering critical thinking, problem‑solving, and lifelong learning.
Admissions for the 2026–2027 academic year are now open. The institution is inviting students nationwide and internationally to enroll in programmes designed to equip them with technical expertise, entrepreneurial skills, and leadership qualities.
Transit College has expanded its presence with campuses across Sierra Leone. The main campus is in Magburaka, Tonkolili, with additional branches in Kono, Moyamba, Makeni, Sierra Rutile, Bo, Matru Jong, Kailahun, Kenema, and Freetown.
The college offers a wide range of programmes across its faculties. It has the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Environmental Science, Faculty of Business Management, Faculty of Education Management, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Media, Communication and Development Studies, all at Certificate, Diploma, HND and Degree levels.
The Principal, Professor Joe A. D. Alie emphasized that Transit College trains students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and apply knowledge practically. He explained that the college’s mission is to inspire students to create, discover, and apply knowledge that supports sustainable development in Sierra Leone and beyond.
Transit College operates under values of transformation, excellence, career‑readiness, gospel empowerment, and transparency. These principles guide its administration and teaching, ensuring that graduates leave as industry‑ready professionals equipped to meet the demands of today’s workforce.
Admission is currently open. Transit is calling on students across Sierra Leone and internationally to secure their places.
