The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) Technical Department Medical Staff observes International Hygiene Day on 5th May 2026 by promoting hand washing hygiene and safety practices at the port in Freetown.

The exercise involved washing and sanitizing the hands of members of staff and visitors entering the ports as part of efforts to prevent the spread of infections and ensure a healthy working environment.

The initiative highlighted the vital role nurses play in safeguarding public health, with the medical team reaffirming its commitment to continuous care, awareness, and service delivery within the port community.
