Structural engineers from the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) have conducted a comprehensive site inspection of the Commission’s North West Regional Office currently under construction in Port Loko.
The inspection focused on evaluating key structural elements of the building, with engineers paying close attention to floor reinforcement and the placement of steel rods—critical components that determine the building’s strength and durability. The exercise forms part of ECSL’s ongoing quality assurance measures aimed at ensuring that the facility meets approved engineering standards and remains safe for long-term use.
Officials involved in the process noted that the project is progressing steadily, with continuous technical supervision in place to maintain construction integrity at every stage. Engineers are reportedly conducting routine checks to ensure strict adherence to design specifications, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to delivering a high-quality infrastructure project.
Once completed, the Port Loko office will mark the third fully owned regional facility of the ECSL, following similar developments in Bo and Kenema over the past five years. The expansion is part of a broader institutional strategy to strengthen the Commission’s presence nationwide and enhance its operational effectiveness.
The new facility is expected to significantly improve electoral management in the North West Region by providing a modern and well-equipped base for electoral activities.
