At the High Court Holden in Kenema on March 30, 2026, Mohamed Sheriff alias Karmoh was sentenced to Forty years (40yrs.) imprisonment by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff of the High Court in Kenema for Attempted Murder, Wounding with Intent and Grevious Bodily Harms Contrary to Section 18 of the Offences against the Persons Act 1861. The charges were read to him by Thomas. B. L. Sam the Registrar of the High Court in Kenema.

A Defendant, Mohamed Sheriff aka Karmoh, inter-earlier pleaded guilty on the offence of wounding with Intent. He pleaded not guilty on count one, Attempted Murder and count three, , Causing Grevious Bodily Harms but he was found guilty by the court.

Defence Counsel, Joseph Bandabla Dauda aka JBD who doubled as a Legal Luminary for AdvocAid Eastern Region, pleaded on behalf of the Defendant stating that he is a first time offender and that his client is a bread winner of his family with children. Lawyer Dauda also pleaded with Justice Sheriff to temper Justice with mercy for a minimal sentence.

In his Judgement, Justice Abdul Sheriff stated that the Defendant inter-earlier pleaded guilty on the offence of wounding with intent. The other offences, Attempted Murder and Causing Grevious Bodily Harms, the Judge told the court that the Prosecution have proved it case beyound reasonable doubt such that the Defendant was guilty as charged. Considering the plead in mitigations by the Defence Counsel on behalf of his client and also considering the aggravating nature of the offence, a Defendant, Mohamed Sheriff aka Karmoh was sentenced to 40yrs.imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) in Kenema. Fifteen years(15yrs.) imprisonment on count One, ten years (10yrs.) on count Two and Fifteen years (15yrs.) imprisonment on count Three to run consecutively. The matter was prosecuted by Andrew. F. Kamara, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema District.
