A motorbike rider has on Wednesday 21st January 2026 was killed instantly following a tragic road crash at Madina junction along the Tombo Highway.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the accident occurred when a taxi collided with a motorbike at the busy junction, the impact reportedly threw the rider violently to the ground, leading to his immediate death.
Sources said both the taxi and the motorbike were traveling along the Tombo Highway when the collision happened, the identity of the deceased rider was not immediately known at the time of filing this report.
Shortly after the crash, local residents and passersby gathered at the scene, while traffic movement along the highway was temporarily disrupted as people attempted to render assistance and alert the authorities, the body of the victim remained at the location awaiting the arrival of police officers.
Officials from the Sierra Leone police traffic Division were expected to visit the scene to assess the incident and commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash. As of press time, no official statement had been issued, and it was not immediately clear whether the taxi driver had been detained.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations continue, meanwhile, residents in the area have renewed calls for increased road safety awareness and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations along the Tombo Highway, which has witnessed several accidents in recent times.
