The newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Zhao Yong, during a courtesy call on the Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, assured him of his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Judiciary.
Ambassador Zhao Yong expressed appreciation to the Chief Justice for the warm reception accorded him and commended the cordial relationship between the Judiciary and the Chinese Embassy. He stated that his tour of duty in Sierra Leone would focus on strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between the People’s Republic of China and Sierra Leone, adding that collaboration and cooperation with the Judiciary would be one of his key priorities.
In his response, Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda welcomed the Ambassador to the Judiciary and to Sierra Leone, and congratulated him on his appointment.
The Chief Justice reaffirmed the Judiciary’s commitment to sustaining and deepening its cordial relationship with the Chinese Embassy, noting that the Judiciary has benefited from fruitful cooperation with the People’s Republic of China under his leadership.
The Honourable Chief Justice further expressed gratitude to the Ambassador’s predecessor and the Government of the People’s Republic of China for their continued support to the Judiciary, particularly the donation of motorbikes last year and the ongoing capacity-building training programmes from which Judiciary staff have benefited.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both parties to strengthening judicial cooperation and enhancing the broader bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China.
Present at the meeting were Supreme Court Justices Alusine Sesay and Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi, High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Manuella Harding, and Legal Researcher Alpha Bannie Jalloh, Esq.
