Sierra Leone Police Launch Freetown-East Operation to Curb Lawlessness

By Emma Black

Superintendent John S. Koroma, the newly appointed Regional Operations Officer for Freetown-East, on Monday, August 18, 2025, spearheaded a targeted monitoring operation to address lawlessness and indiscipline across key areas of the region.

The operation, conducted by Superintendent Koroma and his team, focused on high-traffic junctions, including Up-Gun, Ferry Junction, Shell, and Texaco Junction. This initiative reflects the Sierra Leone Police’s (SLP) ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order, enhancing public safety, and promoting disciplined conduct within Freetown’s bustling capital.

Superintendent Koroma emphasized the SLP’s dedication to fostering collaboration with local communities to restore order on the streets. “Our goal is to ensure a safe and orderly environment for all residents,” he stated, urging the public to comply with police directives to support these efforts. The operation underscores the SLP’s proactive approach to addressing urban challenges and reinforcing community trust in law enforcement.
