Sierra Leone’s capital witnessed a landmark moment in its cultural and tourism renaissance as President Rtd. Brig. Dr. Julius Maada Bio officially unveiled the Chapter One Entertainment Complex, a state-of-the-art facility set to redefine Freetown’s nightlife and tourism landscape.
Located in the heart of Freetown, the grand opening of the Chapter One Entertainment Complex was a star-studded affair, drawing celebrities, influencers, business leaders, and government officials from both Sierra Leone and abroad. The event marked a significant step in the country’s ambition to position itself as a dynamic and modern tourist destination.
Boasting luxurious VIP lounges, cutting-edge sound systems, internationally acclaimed DJs, and a curated menu of local and global cuisines, Chapter One is being hailed as a game-changer, with its sleek architectural design and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, the complex is poised to become a hub for entertainment seekers and a magnet for tourism.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis, Permanent Secretary Edward Kwame Yankson praised the initiative, as the ministry gears up to host the 3rd UN Tourism Africa Gastronomy Forum in April 2026, Chapter One has significantly elevated Freetown’s appeal. It enhances urban tourism and provides both locals and visitors with a safe, modern, and immersive experience for fine dining, live performances, and premium events.
The visionary behind the complex, entrepreneur Fassally Tarawally, described Chapter One as a fulfilment of his dream to deliver a world-class venue that meets global standards. He emphasized that the project aligns with the government’s broader goals of infrastructure development and job creation.
President Bio commended Tarawally entrepreneurial spirit, noting that private sector investment is essential to national development, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish, Tourism is a cornerstone of our Big Five Agenda. It creates jobs, stimulates the economy, and strengthens Sierra Leone’s global image. Chapter one is a testament to what is possible when government and private sector collaborate.
Tourism experts say the launch of chapter one comes at a strategic time, as Sierra Leone intensifies its year of Ecotourism 2025 initiative, focusing on infrastructure upgrades and international branding, the complex is expected to form strategic partnerships with hotels, travel agencies, and airlines to offer integrated tourism packages, further bolstering the country’s appeal to international travellers.
With its bold vision and high-end appeal, Chapter One Entertainment Complex is more than just a nightlife venue it’s a symbol of Freetown’s rising prominence on the African tourism map.
