In a way to stop illegal movement in Sierra Leone. The Kambia police Division have arrested 39 Sierra Leonean who want to enter the sores of Guinea with Valid documentation from the government of Sierra Leone. security forces stationed at the Gbalamuya Customs Border on Wednesday, 25th June 2025, at approximately 4:50 PM, apprehended thirty-nine (39) male Sierra Leonean nationals originating from Waterloo. The group was allegedly attempting to enter the Republic of Guinea unlawfully in pursuit of employment opportunities with a Chinese road construction company in Conakry.
The intercepted individuals, reportedly from Campbell Town in Waterloo, were found without valid travel documents. Responding swiftly to the intelligence, the Local Unit Commander and his operations team halted the attempted border crossing to ensure the safety of the individuals and uphold the integrity of cross-border regulations.
All 39 individuals are currently in protective custody at the Kambia Police Divisional Headquarters. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the motives, networks, and potential risks surrounding this unauthorized movement.
During an official statement, the Northwest Regional Police Commander, AIG Joseph Lahai, sternly cautioned the detainees against engaging in unlawful migration practices. He urged them to seek proper travel documentation before considering cross-border movement and to uphold peace and order until their repatriation process is concluded.
