A 31-year-old office assistant, Ibrahim Massaquoi, has been remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional facility following his first court appearance before Magistrate Patrick Fofanah at Court No. 1 in Freetown on serious charges of office breaking and larceny, and arson, the accused is facing two counts: one for office Breaking and Larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and the other for Arson contrary to Section 3 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.
According to the charge sheet, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at No. 1 Railway Line, Brookfields in Freetown, the accused allegedly broke into the server room of the National Monitoring and Evaluation Agency (NaMEA) with the intent to steal, he is said to have stolen 21 black Samsung Galaxy tablets (56 Lite models), each valued at Le12,000, totalling Le264,000, the items were reported to be the property of the agency and under the custody of Eshaka Massaquoi.
The second count alleges that on the same day and at the same location, Ibrahim Massaquoi maliciously set fire to the agency’s server room with intent to destroy property, when the charges were read in court, the accused did not take a plea, prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of her key witness, due to the serious nature of the allegations, Magistrate Fofanah refused bail and adjourned the matter to June 4, 2025.
