President Dr. Julius Maada Bio officiated the swearing-in of Dr. Abdul Rahim Jalloh as Sierra Leone’s new Deputy Minister of Energy 2, using the occasion to underscore his administration’s steadfast drive toward sustainable energy and broader electricity access nationwide.
The ceremony began with Mr. John Sumaila, secretary to the cabinet and head of the civil Service, delivering the declaration of purpose. He noted that Parliament had unanimously endorsed Dr. Jalloh’s appointment, as recommended by the President, in line with constitutional requirements. Sumaila then formally presented the appointee to President Bio, who administered the oath of office.
In his first remarks as deputy minister, Dr. Jalloh expressed heartfelt thanks to President Bio for the trust placed in him, this role is a profound honor, and I’m keenly aware of its weight,” he said. He pledged to tackle the nation’s energy challenges head-on, ensuring reliable power reaches every Sierra Leonean.
President Bio congratulated Dr. Jalloh and offered his full backing, the energy sector is fraught with hurdles, but face them with resolve, he urged, you’ll have my support every step of the way, he also encouraged the new deputy minister to tap into available expertise to maximize his impact.
Dr. Jalloh steps into the position with over 40 years of experience in engineering and energy systems, spanning national and international arenas, his deep knowledge is poised to propel Sierra Leone’s energy ambitions forward, aligning with the President’s vision for a sustainable future.
The swearing-in marks a fresh chapter in the Bio administration’s quest to transform the country’s energy landscape, a mission underscored by both the President’s words and the seasoned appointee now tasked with leading it.
