In a move to complement government’s efforts on free quality education in Sierra Leone, lawmaker Mohammed Alpha Jalloh of the All People’s Congress (APC) party representing the people of Falaba District, Northern Sierra Leone, has supported the completion of Gbentu Junior Secondary school, Gbentu town, Folosaba Kamba Chiefdom in the district. This support would improve access to education and foster community development.

He said the effort underscores his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people he represents. Many residents describe him as an honest and caring leader who always looks for ways to bring positive change in that part of the country.

Since he was elected in 2023 as a Member of Parliament, the lawmaker has worked on various projects across Falaba District, including the installation of solar street lights and the donation of cement for the health facility, and now, he has made a significant contribution to Gbentu Junior Secondary School. The Lawmaker donated times that included bags of cement, bundles of 8-ft zinc, iron rods, gallons of blue paints, and nails. In addition. He, however, pledged to provide 5,000 New Leone to pay the workers who will complete the construction.

The donation ceremony was a grand event that brought together people from all walks of life, including party members. Among the attendees were the APC District Chairman, Honorable Lahai Marah, the Deputy Chairman, Honorable Mohammed Conteh, and Honorable Abdul Karim Kamara, the Chief Whip of the opposition in parliament.

In his address, Honorable Mohammed Alpha said he was happy to visit Gbentu with his fellow parliamentarians while expressing gratitude to the people for their trust and support and introduced Honorable Abdul Karim Kamara to the community.

Citizens expressed frustration over poor road conditions, something they said makes transportation difficult, especially for business people and schoolchildren.

Hon. Jalloh stressed that his visit was not only to thank them for voting for him but also to fulfill his campaign promises, adding with the help of his family and friends, he was able to raise about One Hundred Thousand Leone (100,000NLe) to purchase the construction materials. He encouraged all residents, including APC members, to support the school project and work together to complete the building.

Honorable Lahai Marah, the APC District Chairman, reminded the people that members of parliament are mainly responsible for making laws, but Honorable Mohammed Alpha has gone beyond that by directly contributing to community development. He praised his efforts and encouraged others to follow same.

Honorable Abdul Karim Kamara, opposition chief whip in Parliament, made an additional donation on behalf of the APC parliamentary team. During his speech, the chief whip pledged 50 bags of cement to support the school construction. The announcement brought joy to the people who cheered in appreciation.
