In a bid to combat drugs related crimes and ensure public safety, Magistrate Court No.1 in Kenema destroyed a quantity of Marijuana (Jamba) on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, following the completion of legal proceedings.
The harmful substance was seized by police at the Wanjama checkpoint and had subsequently gone through court proceedings presided over by Magistrate Shaka Kamara with punishment imposed on the offender.
The burning process was conducted under the supervision of the law enforcement officials and representatives from the court including the press, civil society and other stakeholders.
In an interviewed with Inspector Alphan Samuel Musa, the head of prosecution at Magistrate Court No. l in Kenema, he said, the event marks a decisive step in the judiciary system to eliminate drugs from the community. He thanked Magistrate Shaka Kamara for presiding over the case and said that their actions were not just to destroy the substance but to also send a message that the legal system is committed to upholding the law and protecting the public.
