Presiding Magistrate Shaka Kamara of Magistrate Court No.1 in Kenema has sentenced one Alusine Foday, a trader dwelling at fishery market, to five years imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service in Kenema.
The accused was charged to court for Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to Police Inspector, Alphan Samuel Musa, the accused person on Saturday, January 4, 2025, stole the sum of One Hundred and Fifty New Leones (NLe150/00) property of Comfort Musa. He pleaded not guilty but he was found guilty by the court and sentenced to five years imprisonment.
In another news, Hassan Sesay, aged 23 years, resident of Maxwell-khobe Street in Kenema, arraigned before Magistrate Shaka Kamara for fraudulent conversation contrary to section 20(1) (iv) ((b) of the larceny act of 1916.
The particulars of offence stated that the accused person on Monday, september 2, 2024, at Maxwell-khobe Street in Kenema, fraudulently converted to his own use certain amount in the sum of Twenty-Six Thousand New Leones (NLe,26,000/00) entrusted to him by Fanta Kallon for the purpose of depositing it at Ecobank.
No plea taken and he was committed to high court for trial after the preliminary investigation at the Magistrate court in Kenema.
