Mariama Seray Marrah, a rising icon in youth and women’s empowerment, has captured attention locally and internationally for her relentless activism, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedication to humanitarian causes.
Born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Mariama hails from an extended Islamic family that emphasized education and faith. She completed her secondary education at the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) before pursuing a diploma in Public Sector Management at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, from 2019 to 2021.
While studying for her diploma, Mariama worked with Women in Crisis Response, which enabled her to complete an online certificate course in Humanitarian Law. In 2021, she became certified as a Professional in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP). She later transitioned to a degree program in Public Sector Management at IPAM and is now in her third year.
Mariama’s impact extends beyond her academic achievements. She is an activist, youth ambassador, girl-child champion, social entrepreneur, and brand influencer. In 2021, her story was celebrated across Africa, earning her a spot among the 100 Female Entrepreneurs in Africa, with features in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, and South Africa. By 2024, she was recognized in the She Triumph Magazine at the She Triumph Conference 2024, with her story shared globally, including in Canada, the UK, and the US.
Her professional journey includes roles such as Marketing Manager at Capitol Foods, Secretary at Meet Professionals, Youth Ambassador for Women in Crisis Response, and Board Member at Minds Innovation. She also served as a Brand Ambassador for Infinity Studio, among others.
