The Sierra Leone Police has provided additional details regarding the controversial killing of individuals accused of plotting a coup in November 2023. The police confirmed that suspects involved in the failed attempt were killed during operations aimed at neutralizing threats to the nation’s security. The failed coup had targeted key installations, including military barracks and prisons, leading to multiple casualties and the release of over 2,200 inmates.
Authorities have identified 29 individuals wanted in connection with the plot and continue to appeal for public assistance in locating remaining suspects. They have also promised rewards for information leading to arrests, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in safeguarding democracy and stability.
