In a build-up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which is scheduled from October 21th to 26th 2024, President Julius Maada Bio on Tuesday, 8th October, 2024, held a constructive conversation with the British Monach King Charles III.
“Today, I had a productive conversation with His Majesty King Charles III, the Head of the Commonwealth, in anticipation of the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) taking place in Samoa later this month. I look forward to a fruitful participation and a successful Summit in Samoa,” President Bio wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after his engagement with King Charles III.
The 2024 CHOGM will be the first held in a Small Island Developing State from the Blue Pacific, marking a significant milestone for Samoa. The biennial meeting rotates among member countries, with Rwanda having hosted the last CHOGM in 2022.
The summit provides a platform for Commonwealth leaders to discuss pressing global issues and strengthen cooperation across the 56 member states.
