35years Jail Term for Office

Two Accused persons namely Mohamed Alie, Hand Cat pusher with no fixed abore and Abubakarr Kpewa, another Hand Cat pusher of 13 Coker-Jah Street in Kenema have been sent to jail by Justice Francis Banks-Kamara of the High Court in Kenema for Conspiracy, Office Breaking and Larceny.

The two Accused were charged to Court on two Counts. Count one, Conspiracy to Law and Count two, Office Breaking and Larceny contrary to Sec (26)(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to prosecution, Mohamed Alie and Abubakarr Kpewa on January 22, 2023 at the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) in Kenema City, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Office Breaking and Larceny.

The Two Accused on the same date and place, broke and entered into the Office of Edward Moisah Maculley with intent to steal and stole fiscal sum of Two Hundred and Forty New Leones(NLe 240.00), Tecno Y2 W1 Android Mobile phone valued Ten Thousand, Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 10, 500.00), One HP Lap Top Computer valued Sixteen Thousand New Leones (NLe 16,000.00), Three(3) Lap Top Computer Chargers valued Four Thousand, Two Hundred New Leones (NLe 4,200.00), One Megaphone valued Seven Hundred New Leones (NLe 700.00) and assorted items all to the total valued of Forty One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Four New Leones (41, 904.00). Property of NCRA. The two Accused pleaded not guilty but were found guilty by the Court and sent to a jail term of Thirty-Five Years imprisonment.

Mohamed Alie was sent to jail Six years (6yrs.) on Count One and Fourteen years (14yrs) on Count two. Abubakarr was sent to jail five years (5yrs) on Count One and Ten (10 yrs.) years on count two respectfully

The matter was prosecuted by Mathew P.  M. Lappia, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer in Kenema District and the two Accused were represented by Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board in Kenema District.
