The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has said 2025 is a big year for the ministry. Minister Bah was speaking during a two days retreat that was held by the Ministry at Country Lodge in Freetown.
“This year is a very important year for us, we have the census, constitutional review and a possible referendum. All of these issues are going to need serious communication work,” Minister Bah said.
The Minister singled out staff and praised them for their dedication and hard work over the last year. Minister Bah said, the Ministry is regarded as the best Ministry because of the hard work and dedication of all staff members.
Deputy Minister, Abdel Aziz Bawoh urged all the staff to rise to the future challenges that may come this year.
“I’m very pleased that at the midst of all these resource challenges we still managed to do so well. We should all rise to the challenge; those challenges bring the best out of us. I am proud of everything we have achieved together and I pray we continue to deliver on the President’s agenda,” Minister Bawoh said.
Permanent Secretary, Andrew Sannie Kamara said he is excited about what the ministry has accomplished and he is excited about the future.
“Planning is the bedrock of success, the reward for good work is more work and this year we have to do more. I am happy that we are here to plan for the year,” PS Kamara said.
Minister Bah said the ministry will follow President Bio’s bold action plans. On a legal and policy level, he said: “We will make a big statement regarding policy transformation in the ministry.”
Looking forward to 2025, he said the Ministry will go out more, reaching the rural areas with government information and presence.
“This year, we won’t be based in Freetown. Every month, we will be in the districts. We will do Civic Day, press conference, radio discussion in every district. We are taking this entire infrastructure on the road,” he said.
In addition to this, there are also big plans for the roll out of the Civic Education Strategy.
Despite how much the ministry achieved last year, Minister Bah said the work of the ministry will just be accelerated.
“The good news is that we have achieved a lot last year, the bad news is the reward for good work is more work. So, if you think because we have achieved so much last year then we should relax a bit this year, then I’m afraid you are in the wrong ministry. This year, we are going to blow people away with how much we will do,” Minister Bah said.
