The Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Eastern Region is currently investigating an alleged murder that was reported in the early hours of Saturday, 17th August, 2024, at the Kenema Police Station where two suspects have been arrested.

According to the Regional Crime Officer, East, Deputy Assistant Superintendent D/ASP Mohamed Feika, the matter occurred in New England Area in Nyandeyama Section, Kenema, and it has been fully registered at his investigation pool and investigation is underway. He further disclosed that the two suspects that were arrested were Abdulrahman Jalloh of Burma 3 and Fatmata Sow of New England, Nyandeyama Section.

In a snap interview with The Expo Times, the Investigating Officer, D/PC 11702 Boa M.M., stated that he got the information about the alleged murder from the operation department of the Kenema Police Division who were reportedly called by an OSD Officer stating that he had bumped into a dead man, lying close to a motorbike around the New England axis. Responsively, he went on, they moved into the identified area and found a 21-year-old man who was later identified as Juldeh Jalloh of Hangha Road lying dead close to the motorbike, and one of the police officers recognized the deceased as a former friend.

 

Detective Bao further noted that they searched the area for potential signs and evidence that could provide clue about the incident, adding that it was during that search that they discovered footprints leading to a nearby house. It was also discovered that the deceased had a lover in that area who was identified as Fatmata Sow. The police then contacted a woman living in the house, who initially denied any knowledge of Fatmata Sow and claimed to be living alone with her child. However, after further investigation, the officers were able to confirm her real identity as Fatmata Sow and also discovered a man hiding in one of the rooms.

The woman, Fatmata Sow and the man, Abdulrahman Jalloh, were both taken into custody at the police station for further questioning and they currently helping the police to investigate the matter.
