
The Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, added excitement and inspiration to the electrifying grand finale of the Orange Esport Experience: University Tournament SL 2025, a dynamic celebration of digital talent and youth creativity.
The tournament brought together some of Sierra Leone’s best university gamers from institutions including Fourah Bay College, IPAM, Njala University, UNIMAK, Canadian College, Milton Margai, and others, the event buzzed with energy as students competed in a spirit of innovation and camaraderie.
Minister Sannoh, speaking at the event, connected effortlessly with the young crowd. In a candid and relatable moment, he revealed his own interest in gaming, I enjoy gaming myself I often play on my PS5 during quiet moments at home, he said, drawing enthusiastic cheers and applause from the audience.
He commended Orange Sierra Leone and its partners for investing in platforms that promote digital engagement and youth empowerment, the minister highlighted the growing global impact of esports and its ability to foster not only entertainment but also critical life skills.
Esports is more than just gaming, it’s a global industry that is creating jobs, building communities, and inspiring innovation, Sannoh stated, he encouraged participants to channel their passion into purpose, noting that the strategic thinking, teamwork, and focus developed through gaming can contribute significantly to their academic, personal, and professional lives.
This tournament is not just about winning it’s about discovering potential, embracing digital change, and celebrating the imagination and skill of young Sierra Leoneans, he added, the finale marked a major milestone in Sierra Leone’s emerging digital culture, showcasing how esports can be harnessed to support youth development and technological progress.
