Chief Minister Dr Moinina David Sengeh has said, in the last six years of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party led government, the country’s Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has been provided him mentorship and support.
In one of his recent episodes of ‘The Chief’s Diary’ social media publications titles “Team Work at the Heart of Governance Delivery at State House”, the country’s Chief minister wrote:
“I’ve spent 6 years in government, and during that period, I’ve worked closest with President Bio and Vice President Jalloh. We see each other multiple times almost every day of the week. VP Jalloh has been a solid mentor, ally & support. While detractors can try to divide our bond and great collaboration, we will persevere and remain focused on our goal.”
Dr Sengeh noted that he and the Vice President are not competing, while reiterating that their mutual focus is to see that their boss, President Julius Maada Bio, succeed in achieving his campaign promises to the people of Sierra Leone.
“We are often in sync and because of our excellent communication and collaboration, we can both tackle multiple and diverse actions in parallel. Between us, there’s never competition, only our shared commitment in supporting the vision of our boss, President Bio,” he said.
He added that Vice President Juldeh Jalloh has been a major champion and proponent of inclusion, something he said strengthens their relationship.
Concluding the said recent episode of ‘The Chief’s Diary’, the Chief Minister noted that he has three bosses, “the President, the Vice President and the People of Sierra Leone. The rest are my colleagues.”
The statement of the Chief Minister came at a time rumours and support groups are emerging for some key figures within SLPP as the party’s presidential candidate for 2028 elections. It is worth noting that there has been no identified or proclaimed support group for Dr Jalloh to succeed President Bio. Such portrayal by the Vice President has attracted huge respect among citizens as he is seen to be more focused in helping the President deliver on his manifesto promises than engaging in early succession of the President who still has almost four years more to rule in his second and final term as President of Sierra Leone.
It could be recalled that, after Sierra Leone secured signing of the US$480 million dollars, President Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Fatima Bio and some other top government officials heaped eulogies on Vice President Juldeh Jalloh for his leadership as he, acting on the directives of President Bio, chaired the in-country MCC Compact eligibility leading to the country passing the set criteria and securing the approval of the US Congress.
