Dear Editors,

I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance concerning the recent developments in infrastructure within Sierra Leone, particularly the installation of traffic light systems at crucial intersections in the capital city of Freetown. While commendable efforts have been made by the government to enhance the quality of life for its citizens through such initiatives, there are pressing concerns that demand immediate attention.

The Government of Sierra Leone has been actively striving towards the development of our nation, focusing on the improvement of infrastructure and the provision of basic amenities for the welfare of its citizens. One notable stride in this direction has been the installation of traffic light systems at key intersections across Freetown. However, it is imperative to address certain issues that have arisen, particularly regarding the functionality and safety of these systems.

One such intersection that warrants urgent attention is the newly opened intersection of Blackhall Road by Benz Garage Section and that of the Hillside Bypass Road. While this development signifies a positive step forward in facilitating smoother traffic flow and ensuring the safety of commuters, there are alarming reports of discrepancies in the functioning of the traffic lights at this intersection.

As a concerned citizen, it is evident to me, as well as to many others, that there is a dire need for a thorough investigation into the functionality and installation of the traffic light system at this intersection. Despite not being a technical expert in traffic light systems, numerous drivers and pedestrians alike have reported encountering difficulties due to the inconsistent synchronization of the traffic lights. This discrepancy poses a significant risk, increasing the likelihood of accidents and jeopardizing the safety of individuals utilizing these crossings.

Therefore, I urgently implore the authorities involved to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the traffic light system at the aforementioned intersection. Immediate measures must be taken to rectify any deficiencies or irregularities in the installation or operation of the traffic lights to mitigate the potential risks and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.

Furthermore, it would be greatly appreciated if the responsible authorities could disclose the details of the company or entity responsible for the installation and maintenance of these traffic light systems. Transparency in this matter is crucial for accountability and to facilitate constructive dialogue aimed at addressing the prevailing concerns.

In conclusion, while the efforts of the Government of Sierra Leone in advancing infrastructure development are commendable, it is imperative to prioritize the safety and welfare of the citizens. Addressing the issues pertaining to the functionality of the traffic light system at critical intersections is paramount in achieving this objective.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I trust that swift action will be taken to address the concerns raised.
