In a significant move to bolster Sierra Leone’s defense capabilities, the U.S. Embassy has partnered with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) to support the development of a professional and effective air force. This collaboration aligns with the broader goal of ensuring a safe and stable region.

A team from the U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) recently visited Sierra Leone for a week-long engagement. During this period, subject matter experts from the Manpower, Organization, and Resources Division shared their expertise to assist in expanding the capabilities of the Sierra Leone Air Force (SLAF).

The focus areas of this collaboration included total air force development, personnel development, and capability enhancement. Discussions covered topics such as manpower planning, database management, individual career progression, strategic planning, air force doctrine, process development, and manning formulas.

Brigadier General David Sahr Ngaujah, RSLAF Chief of General Staff, expressed strong interest in future engagements to further explore U.S. Air Force best practices in evaluations, assignments, and training, This partnership is part of the United States’ commitment to supporting Sierra Leone in developing a professional and effective air force, contributing to the overall stability and security of the region.
