Justice Abdul Sheriff of the high court in Kenema has sentenced Hassan Senesie of Boajibu Town and Aruna Gbondo of Baoma Oil Mill Village, both in the Kenema District, to ten years (10 yrs) imprisonment for shop breaking and larceny.
According to Andrew F. Kamara, state counsel and customary Law officer in Kenema, the two convicts, on May 3, 2025, at Baoma Oil Mill Village, Kandu Leppiama chiefdom in the Kenema Judicial District, conspired with unknown individuals to commit a felony to wit, shop breaking and larceny.
On the aforementioned date and at the said location, the convicts broke and entered the shop of Alhaji Swaray with intent to steal. They made away with the following items,
One 4500-watt power bank valued at NLe 1,800, one Tecno pop mobile phone valued at NLe 2,500, one common 16 mobile phone valued at NLe 5,000, one Wikoo mobile battery valued at NLe 2,500, one voltex mobile phone valued at NLe 1,600, nad other assorted items, all valued at a total of NLe 15,520
Both convicts pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for mercy. Defence Counsel Samuel S. Pessima pleaded with the court on behalf of the convicts, urging the judge to temper justice with mercy and impose a minimal sentence.
In his judgment, Justice Abdul Sheriff took into consideration the convicts’ plea of guilt and the mitigation by their counsel. He subsequently sentenced each of them to five (5) years imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema — a total of ten (10) years between the two convicts.
