The Principal Magistrate in Kenema, Hadiru Daboh of Magistrate court no.1 has Sentenced two accused persons, Sam Sama and Ibrahim Sannoh all of Jao village, Tunkia chiefdom in the Kenema District to Six (6) months imprisonment or do community service by cleaning around the court premises for a period of two weeks.
The two accused changed their plea to guilty during their second appearance in Court. Sam Sama and Ibrahim Sannoh first arraigned before Magistrate Daboh on June 10, 2025 and the complainant was absent.
The first accused, Sam Sama pleaded guilty on count one and not guilty on count two whilst the second accused, Ibrahim Sannoh, pleaded not guilty on all counts.
The two were charged to court for Conspiracy Contrary to Law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916. According to the court record, the two accused on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Jao village bush, Tunkia Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District in the Eastern province, conspired with unknown individuals to commit a crime to wit Larceny. On the aforementioned date and Venue, did steal five (5) pods of cocoa valued at Fifty New Leones (NLe 50.00). Property of Ibrahim Bawoh.
During the second appearance of the two accused persons in court on June 17, 2025, the two accused who are first time offenders in court, changed their plea to guilty and begged for mercy.
Magistrate Hadiru Daboh Sentenced the two accused persons to Six months imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Kenema or an alternate to do community service by cleaning around the court premises for a period of two weeks.
The matter was prosecuted by woman police constable (PC), Zainab Fornah, attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station.
