Two defendants, Dauda Saidu Kennie (35) and Joseph Turay (27), both of Teyama Village in the Kenema Judicial district, have been sentenced to fifty-four (54) months imprisonment by Her Worship magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John of magistrate court No. 2 in Kenema for offences of conspiracy and larceny.

According to the particulars of the offence, the convicts, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Teyama village, Dodo chiefdom in the Kenema judicial district, conspired with unknown persons to commit larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

On the same date and at the same place, both convicts stole a quantity of cocoa pods valued at NLe 300, property of Moriba Abibu, they pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for leniency.

In her ruling, magistrate Hamida M. John considered their plea of guilt and remorse but emphasized the seriousness of the offence. She sentenced each of the convicts to a total of fifty-four (54) months imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema twenty-four (24) months on count one (Conspiracy) and thirty (30) months on Count Two (Larceny).

In a separate matter before the same court, Francis Musa, a school pupil residing at Dauda Town Section in Kenema, was arraigned for larceny, the convict, on September 9, 2025, at Dauda Town section, stole a quantity of yams valued at NLe 5,000, property of Alice Kamara, he also pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.

Magistrate Hamida sentenced Francis Musa to twenty-four (24) months imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema, the matters were prosecuted by police inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh, attached to the Legal and justice support department at the Kenema Police Station.
