The Kenema District Traders Union Election held on June 21, 2025 at the old District Council Office, Maxwell-Khobe Street in Kenema was conducted under a tight security deployment and strategic coordination by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP). The Election attracted an impressive turnout of Union members with voters queuing up early in the day to cast their ballots. Three candidates contested the high-stake positions of chairperson while other key executive roles including Secretary General and Financial Secretary were also decided through democratic voting. Meanwhile, positions ranging from Vice Chairperson to Audit went uncontested.

Security coverage was spearheaded by the Kenema Division of the SLP under the operational command of Inspector Mohamed Konneh. His team was visible across the Venue ensuring orderliness and crowd control throughout the day. Providing strategic direction and supervision was superintendent Gibrila Kamara, the operational support division (OSD) coordinator for the Eastern Region. His presence and command played a control role in maintaining calm and preventing any disruption during the electoral process. Though there were minor impasses during the election, it was swiftly contained without incident, showcasing the professionalism and readiness of security apparatus. No adverse security events were reported throughout the exercise. The entire process was free from violence, intimidations or disorder.

The election was climaxed by the announcement of the elected executives. Mustapha Koroma was elected chairman of the Union, Lucy Mattia, financial secretary and Abdul Karim Mansaray was elected organising secretary of the organisation.
