On Friday, October 25, 2024, thousands of mourners from across Sierra Leone gathered in the north east region of Makeni City to sympathize with the family of one Mohammed Guriseu Jalloh who was tragically killed by a gunshot along with his cow on the 13th, October, 2024 in Sella Limba Chiefdom, Karene District. The remains of Mamadu Guriseu Jalloh was laid to rest in the Timbo cemetery, Makeni municipality.

AIG Victor Manfred Williams is the regional commander of the Sierra Leone Police north east region who said the investigation of the alleged killing is almost complete, noting the files have been sent to the state counsel for advice so that the right chargers can be levied angst the suspects while advising the public especially residents of Karene district to give peace a change as police is doing their work. “My advice to the cattle rearers, farmers, and the people who are mitigating this case wherein hey will go to a location about cattle eating their crops or destroying their farms so that can look into the matter and deal with them speedily” the police head advice

The gathering symbolizes a strong a solidarity to the bereaved family as people from across the country and neighboring countries Guinea and Liberia organize befitting burial and his remains were prayed over at Wusum Stadium, followed by burial at the Makeni Main Cemetery.

Chief Alhaji Mohamed Sajor Jalloh is the Fullah Tribal head Sierra Leone, he said they gathered in Makeni to give their brother the Islamic burial and they want justice. He calls on the government of President Bio to put things in order so that both farmers and cattle rearers can live in harmony, noting one cannot eat rice without soup and so vice-vasa.

Barrister Amadu Thanu Jalloh is a relative to the deceased who spoke on behalf of the family and said the situation is under investigation and that Family members should patient while the Law take it course as they are helping with the police the information needed.

Chief Alhaji Kandeh Yella ii, Limba tribal head said they condemned the act as it is far from tribal. He noted that Fullahs and Limbas have been together for ages and that there is inter-marriage between them. He calls on the bereaved family to exercise patient while the police are doing the investigation. Chief Yella called on the Limba People to live in unity with their neighbors.

The occasion was also a testament to the unity and support within cattle rearers mainly the Fullah community, with significant contributions from the Council of Fullah Tribal Heads, led by Chief Alhaji Mohamed Saj Jalloh, the Fullah Progressive Union (FPU), Tabital Pulaaku, the Sierra Leone Livestock Rearers Organization, security forces, and local authorities. Their collective efforts ensured that Mamadu Guriseu Jalloh received a respectful and honorable burial and continued the pursuit of justice in his name.
