The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed a break-in at its Secretariat store in Freetown, where critical audited financial documents were being kept, the incident reportedly occurred over the weekend and was discovered early Monday morning by staff.
In an official statement, the SLFA described the act as unlawful and expressed serious concern over the breach, the matter has been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has launched a formal investigation.
While no arrests have been made, police have invited three Secretariat staff members including the Finance Officer for questioning. Reports indicate that these individuals accessed the premises during the weekend, raising questions about their potential involvement or knowledge of the break-in.
The SLFA assures the public of its commitment to transparency and will provide further updates as the investigation progresses, the statement read.
The football association has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
Although the SLFA did not confirm whether any documents were stolen or tampered with, the breach has raised serious concerns about the integrity of financial records and internal security protocols.
As investigations continue, the public and football stakeholders await further clarification from the SLFA regarding the extent of the damage and potential implications for the association’s financial accountability.
The statement was signed by SLFA’s Head of Media and Marketing, Ibrahim Kamara.
