Sierra Leone Road Safety has seen transformation since its inception in the early 2000. Their duty is to compliment the effort of the police especially in ensuring that our roads are safe to a large extent. They are paid from the consolidated fund and their mandate also includes revenue generation especially from the fines that they impose. The office in Bo is centrally located and therefore easily accessible which makes the work of drivers and riders easy to transact business with them. So many heads of the office have come and but the current acting head strikes a difference.

Michael Feika, a onetime journalist who wrote for the New Vision newspaper is now at the healm of affairs in the road safety office in Bo. He has risen through the ranks, from working in Freetown as a traffic controller and monitor to the district PRO in Bo. And Bo being the second capital city of Sierra Leone carries with it huge responsibility and challenges. This is where Michael Feika comes across as the right man for the job. He has university education and is a decent family man; married with kids. Michael Feika has a quiet demeanor, thoughtful and affable. His human relationship is very good and has respect for people. Humility is his Hallmark as sometimes he goes out on streets to ensure the corps are doing the right thing. Sanity has started taking place at the office in Bo.

Due to the above, there are strong recommendations from higher quarters for Michael Feika to be made the substantive head of the road safety office in Bo. And are therefore calling on the executive director of Sierra Leone Road Safety, Baggie Bio and his team to make Michael Feika the substantive head of the road safety office in Bo. It’s a decision that the road safety corps will not stand to regret. ” I have been in this work for long starting from the grassroot to where God, almighty has put me today and I have no doubt that I can deliver especially in bringing sanity and much needed safety on the streets of Bo district and beyond.” He recognizes the challenges facing the office but is not daunted by them as the experience is there.
