A six-man squad from Sierra Leone has departed for Kampala, Uganda to participate in a major squash tournament for African countries, the tournament will run from 17th to 22nd November 2025 and is organized by the Ugandan Squash Racquet Association. Matches will be held across three venues: Kampala club courts Ltd, Pearl of Africa Hotel Courts, and Kabira country club resort court.

Participating countries include Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, DRC, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia, Namibia, and the host nation, Uganda.

The Sierra Leone delegation comprises four players, one executive member of the Sierra Leone Squash Association, and a coach, the trip is fully sponsored by Sierra Fishing Company.

We have the talent and determination to compete with Africa’s best. This championship is a great opportunity to showcase Sierra Leonean prowess in squash, Coach Baico Sesay, accompanying the team, added:

We are taking a senior side that has been playing regularly in Sierra Leone. I have no doubt they will go to Uganda, compete strongly, and make us all proud. The players are highly motivated and in good spirits.

Squash is a non-contact sport played within an enclosed court using a racquet and ball. The Ugandan tournament will feature both individual and team competitions, with a total prize fund of $15,000.

The event is supported by the World Squash Federation, the Squash Federation of Africa, and the East Africa Squash Federation, ensuring a high-standard, continental-level competition, Sierra Leone’s team will be hoping to build on their growing reputation and secure top honours at this prestigious African championship.
