Sports Minister Ensures Smooth SLFA Elective Congress in Lungi

The Honourable Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, presided over the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Ordinary Elective Congress at the Gateway Hotel in Lungi. The event, themed “Forward for Football, Shape the Games,” underscored a commitment to advancing football development nationwide.

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, Minister James-Teima’s presence was instrumental in ensuring the Congress proceeded smoothly. When some delegates raised concerns about the electoral process, requesting resolution before voting, the Minister delivered a composed yet firm address. She urged delegates to allow the process to continue, assuring them that grievances could be formally addressed post-election. Her intervention restored calm, enabling the proceedings to resume without further disruption.

The voting process concluded peacefully, with the Electoral Committee Chair announcing the results. The election’s transparency was upheld under the scrutiny of FIFA representatives Ahmed Harrh and Mohamed Elshawaby, alongside WAFU Zone A Executive Director Mapathe Gaye.

The Electoral Committee was commended for their patience, dedication, and professionalism, which were pivotal to the event’s success. Special appreciation was extended to Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh and the SLFA Secretariat team for their meticulous planning and execution.

Congratulations to Team Babadi Kamara on their victory. We wish them a successful tenure in leading Sierra Leone’s football forward.
