On the side-lines of the ongoing WAFU-A General Assembly, the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mr. Babadi Kamara, held a productive meeting with FIFA Regional Coordinator, Ms. Silmara Sousa, who is attending the assembly as FIFA’s official representative.
Joining Mr. Kamara was SLFA Acting General Secretary, Mr. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, as they represented Sierra Leone at the high-level regional congress. Their participation underscores SLFA’s commitment to fostering collaboration, advancing football governance, and promoting development both within the West African Football Union (WAFU-A) and across the African continent.
The General Assembly brings together key football stakeholders from the WAFU-A zone to deliberate on pressing issues affecting the growth and governance of the sport in the sub-region. Discussions center on strategic plans, development programs, and initiatives aimed at strengthening football structures and nurturing talent.
Mr. Kamara’s engagement with Ms. Sousa highlighted Sierra Leone’s proactive role in partnering with international football bodies to enhance administration, infrastructure, and development programs. The meeting was described as fruitful, with both parties reaffirming their mutual interest in deepening cooperation and aligning on FIFA-supported initiatives.

As the congress continues, further bilateral and multilateral engagements are expected, providing a platform for the SLFA to share experiences, explore collaborative opportunities, and contribute to the strategic direction of football development within the WAFU-A bloc.
