A high-level delegation from Sierra Leone’s energy and power sector paid a courtesy call to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Cairo while attending the 21st Congress of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), held from September 23 to October 3, 2025. The delegation was warmly received by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Egypt, His Excellency Sadiq Silla.
The visiting team included Mr. Alpha Samuel Jusu, Board Chairman of the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC); Mr. Milton Gegbai Moiwa, Director General of EGTC; Mr. Andrew Keili, Board Chairman of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA); and Mr. Chernor Sulaiman Jalloh, Technical Director of EDSA.
During the meeting, discussions centered on enhancing regional energy cooperation, including exploring potential partnerships between EDSA and North African petroleum suppliers. Ambassador Silla reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to supporting such initiatives and serving as a bridge for future collaboration.
The delegation also reviewed Sierra Leone’s participation at the APUA Congress, assessing achievements and identifying opportunities to advance the country’s energy sector. Both sides underscored the importance of engaging with continental platforms like APUA to foster innovation, attract investment, and promote sustainable development within Sierra Leone’s power infrastructure.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with commitments to deepen cooperation and leverage regional partnerships for the growth and modernization of Sierra Leone’s energy sector.
