Sierra Leoneans in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, 5th December 2024, welcomed the new Ambassador assigned to the Kingdom, His Excellency Mohammed S. Barrie.

Ambassador Barrie and his wife, Mrs. Jalahan Barrie, were warmly received at the King Khalid International Airport Executive Lounge by the Deputy Ambassador of the Mission, Abdul Aziz Turay, Staff of the Embassy, students and members of the Sierra Leone Nationals Union in the Kingdom.

Expressing hope on behalf of the Sierra Leonean community in the Kingdom, Mr. Abdul Aziz Kargbo, the President of the Sierra Leone Nationals Union, said they were happy to receive the new Ambassador and ready to support him at all times.

In his brief statement, Ambassador Barrie expressed joy and thanked them for the warm welcome accorded to him and his wife.

“I will assure you that I will be an Ambassador for all Sierra Leoneans. My office is open to you all, as I am here to serve our country, as well as seek the interest of all Sierra Leoneans,” he said.

Ambassador Barrie expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency President Bio for appointing him to serve. He pledged to work with his team in the interest of the country and to ensure that the President is proud of him and the  embassy.

“I have the burning desire to transform the Mission to the next level with the goal of pursuing President Bio’s Big 5 Game Changers,” he assured.

Ambassador Barrie is the eighth envoy to serve the Embassy in Saudi Arabia after H.E Sulaiman Timbo, Alhaji Amadu Boie Jalloh, Umaru Bond Wurie, Alhaji Amadu Deen Tejan-Sie, Amadu Wusu Munu, M.S Kargbo and Ambassador Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh, respectively, since the embassy was established in 1979.
