Hon. Minister Dr. Isata Mahoi, representing the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs of Sierra Leone, is currently in Kenya as part of a delegation led by the Minister for Local Government, H.E Tamba John Sylvernus Lamina. Their visit aims to strengthen collaboration with Kenya’s #FLLoCA (Frontline Local Leaders on Climate Action) Program teams, fostering mutual learning and cooperation in climate action initiatives.
At the heart of Minister Mahoi’s engagement lies a commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment within Sierra Leone’s climate action agenda. Her presence underscores the ministry’s dedication to integrating women into key sectors such as agriculture, energy, and climate resilience efforts, recognizing their invaluable contributions to sustainable development.
The delegation’s visit emphasizes inclusivity by also prioritizing the needs of persons living with disabilities in climate actions. By ensuring that vulnerable groups are central to climate resilience strategies, Sierra Leone reaffirms its commitment to leaving no one behind in the pursuit of a sustainable future.
Through this exchange visit, Sierra Leone seeks to glean insights from Kenya’s experiences and best practices in climate action while also sharing its own initiatives and lessons learned. The collaboration between the two countries reflects a shared commitment to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change and promoting gender equality as integral components of sustainable development efforts.
As the delegation engages in fruitful discussions and knowledge exchange sessions, the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Sierra Leone and Kenya are strengthened, laying a solid foundation for future collaborative endeavors in advancing climate action and gender empowerment agendas.
