The International Goodwill Ambassadors Club Organization has appointed Edward Joseph Dalington Alpha as Sierra Leone’s Country Coordinator for the 2025 International Women Power Conference (IWPC), scheduled to take place from November 13 to 17 in Banjul, The Gambia.
The announcement, made in a letter dated 19 May, 2025, by IWPC Global President Dr. Chris Oko Odey, recognizes Alpha’s significant contributions to promoting gender equity and creating safe spaces for women in Sierra Leone and across Africa.
Alpha is a respected He-for-She Ambassador, communication strategist, and event host with extensive experience working with NGOs and youth-led organizations focused on building inclusive societies for women and girls.
The IWPC, operating under the International Goodwill Ambassador Club Organization, aims to drive global women’s empowerment through networking, recognition, and leadership development. This year’s conference will feature four major side activities designed to empower, connect, and inspire women worldwide.
As Country Coordinator, Alpha will be responsible for mobilizing Sierra Leone’s delegation, coordinating national participation, and contributing to strategic discussions on gender equity and women’s empowerment at the conference.
In response to his appointment, Alpha expressed deep gratitude, stating, “This role is not just a personal honor but a testament to Sierra Leone’s commitment to advancing gender equality. It offers an opportunity to showcase our efforts and learn from global best practices.”
He further encouraged young people engaged in youth-led activities, saying, “Your voice matters. Stay committed to your cause, and together, we can build a more equitable society for all.”
The 2025 IWPC in The Gambia is expected to be a landmark event, bringing together influential leaders and advocates dedicated to empowering women and promoting gender equality across the globe.
Alpha said he was “delighted” and “I can’t wait to collaborate and work side by side with the dedicated, dynamic and astute country-team, Mrs Millicent Kargbo (National Chairperson) and Mariama Sahid (National Youth Coordinator), as we continue to champion this great movement of power, change, purpose and progress of women in the region and the world at large.”
