The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) on Thursday, June 19, 2025, signed a pivotal memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ACROW corporation of America, paving the way for the design, build, operate, and transfer (DBOT) of the long-awaited Lungi Bridge project a landmark in national infrastructure development.
Founded in 1951 and headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, USA, ACROW corporation boasts over 70 years of expertise, delivering modular steel bridge solutions across 150 countries, including more than 40 in Africa. This global experience positions the company as a key partner in this transformative initiative.
Dr. Edward Hinga Sandy, executive Director of the National investment Board (NIB), hailed the signing as the culmination of strategic dialogues, technical assessments, and high-level engagements, this MoU lays a solid foundation for the next phase, reflecting GoSL’s dedication to unlocking game-changing infrastructure, he said.
Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh reinforced the government’s resolve to prioritize projects impacting national growth and citizens’ lives, the Lungi Bridge is more than a link between the airport and Freetown; it symbolizes Sierra Leone’s soaring infrastructure ambitions, he noted.
U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan David Hunt, praised the partnership, calling it a testament to strengthening U.S.-Sierra Leone ties, we’re thrilled to see ACROW bring world-class engineering and proven expertise to this vital project, he remarked.
The ACROW team expressed eagerness to collaborate, citing the project’s readiness, this MoU underscores GoSL’s political will and focus on critical infrastructure, positioning the Lungi Bridge as a historic milestone in Sierra Leone’s development journey.
