Yankuba Askia Bio, the General Manager of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), has reaffirmed the authority’s dedication to driving innovation and enhancing the efficiency of the nation’s ports. Under his leadership, the SLPHA is focused on improving port infrastructure, supporting regional trade, and fostering economic growth.
“Our goal is to transform Sierra Leone’s ports into world-class facilities that contribute to the nation’s economic development and facilitate smoother regional trade. We are committed to ensuring that the management of these vital national assets is both efficient and sustainable,” Bio stated.
The ongoing transformation initiative seeks to improve operational efficiency, reduce turnaround times for vessels, and enhance service delivery for both domestic and international traders. These efforts align with the broader objective of making the ports a central pillar of Sierra Leone’s economic development, attracting investment, and enhancing trade with neighbouring countries.
To achieve this vision, the SLPHA is prioritizing the adoption of advanced technologies and best practices in port operations. This includes upgrading port infrastructure, investing in workforce training, and forming partnerships to stimulate growth in the maritime sector.
Under Bio’s leadership, the SLPHA is focused on making Sierra Leone’s ports more competitive globally. With sustained investments in innovation and sustainable development, the authority aims to position the country’s ports as a key hub for regional trade and commerce.
